Yes, in addition to the single-ended (RCA) outputs, the Aero DAC has differential balanced (XLR) outputs.
The ZOTL output section operates differentially, cancelling out common-mode noise. The analog section begins with a discrete current mirror with a differential output. The signal from the I/V feeds the four single-ended amplification stages that make up the differential ZOTL output stage.
The Aero DAC is an R2R DAC, otherwise known as a resistor-to-resistor ladder DAC.
We employ the Analog Devices AD1865 R2R DAC chip, which is a highly regarded R2R DAC chip. One well-known audio brand uses this same chip in their $153,000 flagship DAC.
The Aero DAC has three inputs located on the back panel:
USB
RCA / Coax
Toslink / Optical
These can be selected with the button on the front panel.
